The LGBT community is taking a stand for their beliefs this year with the 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The homosexual sweep across the nation has alarmed some people – although it isn’t their place to judge.
Music, shows, and movies have taken part in spreading awareness that it’s okay to be gay including the Disney Channel original Good Luck Charlie which filmed it’s last episode on one of Charlie’s friends having two moms. That episode, “Down a Tree”, was nominated for Out Standing Individual Episode, an award given to a series without a regular LGTB character, as well as Doctor Who’s “Deep Breath” episode on BBC America and Elementary’s “No Lack of Void” on CBS.
Tammy by Warner Bros. Pictures is a nominee for Outstanding Film – Wide Release and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by Film Movement for Limited Release.
ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder – #CONNIVER – are nominated for Outstanding Drama Series including Showtimes’s Master’s of Sex and Shameless.

Outstanding Comedy Series nomination goes to the Netflix original, Orange Is the New Black – seeing as it’s an all female prison.
The category TV Movie or Mini Series doesn’t really hold much suspicion as it only holds one nominee HBO’s The Normal Heart and HBO’s The Case Against 8 was also given a nomination for Outstanding Documentary.
VH1 and TV One holds slots in Outstanding Reality Program along with three other nominees as NBC and ABC’s Day’s of Our Lives – #WINNY –and General Hospital are against each other for the win in Outstanding Daily Drama.

From music artists such as Capitol Record’s Mary Lambert and Sam Smith to comic books like Image Comic’s Rat Queens and Saga the list goes on and soon the winners will be revealed, but we wouldn’t have a winner if so many producers, journalists, authors, and companies didn’t support the LGBT Community.
